Mistress of Linen

Mistress of Linen is a British brand born from a deep love of antique and vintage heritage textiles.

For many years, the sourcing of antique textiles has been at the heart of the business, allowing the brand to supply beautiful materials for use in homes, film, and theatre.

The idea for creating its own bags came after finding that many modern bags were poorly designed and cheaply made. Determined to make something durable and functional, the founders designed a bag for personal use and tested it in everyday life. The result was a sturdy, timeless design that became the brand’s signature large tote.

What began as a personal project quickly grew into a business when others began requesting the same design. Since then, Mistress of Linen has evolved to include a wider range of products, such as additional bag designs, aprons, clothing, and luxurious home comforts.

Every piece created by Mistress of Linen is thoughtfully designed and made only from antique or vintage textiles, carefully selected to complement one another and extend the life of these historic materials. In many cases, only enough fabric exists to make a single item, ensuring that each piece is truly unique.

Proudly made in England, Mistress of Linen works with a dedicated team of skilled seamstresses who share a passion for craftsmanship and heritage. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality are reflected in every product they produce.

Mistress of Linen

Our business has grown from our love of antique and vintage heritage textiles.
The sourcing of antique textiles has been our business for many years and it has allowed us to supply beautiful materials to be used in homes, film and theatre.

Mistress of Linen has grown from that first idea of making a bag out of vintage textiles to now a range includes more bag designs, aprons, clothing and luxurious home comforts.

Everything we do is very personal and our designs are the result of careful thought. We only make products we would want to own and use. All are made from antique or vintage textiles carefully selected to blend together and extend the life of the material. Often we have only enough of a particular fabric to make just one item so many of our products are unique.

We are proud that we make our pieces in England and our team of seamstresses are passionate about what we stand for. They understand the quality and heritage of the material we use and their care to quality and detail is reflected in the products we produce.
