These slim cases combine colourful patterns with practicality and are great for keeping a few bits together, whether it’s coming to a meeting with you or stopping things getting lost at the bottom of your handbag. It can easily store a few pens and pencils in it, some makeup essentials, your headphones/lip balm/hair-ties or even just to keep your epi-pen concealed but easily to hand. 

Featuring our Flight of Herons pattern, in 3 different colourways which are new for Spring 2025, these items represent the re-introduction of textiles back to Holchester Designs as I’ve found a collaborator to make them who values sustainable practices just like me.  

The pattern was originally inspired by some research I was doing into migrating birds (my daughter had asked a question!) and images I saw of the flocks flying in formation.  Using my original hand-drawn sketch, drawn in a style inspired by wire-jewellery, these motifs were refined digitally before turning them into a repeat pattern.  

The fabric for these cases has been sourced and printed in Scotland on sustainable cotton, and then handmade (also in Scotland) in small batches to ensure minimum fabric waste.  The YKK zip is really sturdy, made from recycled plastic and with a leather zip pull for ease of opening.  Plus the thread used is also from recycled plastic and the case is fully lined for maximum practicality.  It will be posted out to you packaged simply with a recycled and recyclable tag, before being wrapped and posted out in our standard recycled/recyclable plastic-free packaging. 

Each colourway is available in three different sizes of case - Slim, Standard Pencil Case and Zip Pouch.

Why not create your own gift set, mix and match colours and sizes in this pattern, or add some stationery too.  If you’re working with a bird theme the Brighton Birds and Paradise patterns are the place to go, or alternatively the Moonlit Moths is a similar style of print that complements it so well.  And the colours of the Deco Delights stationery range also looks *chefs kiss*. 

Launching just in time for Mother’s Day, this would be a great Mother’s Day gift or an alternative to an Easter Egg if chocolate isn’t her thing.
