Pottery Mug Making Workshop Day in Nailsworth
Thursday 18th June 10am-2.30pm
Come and join ceramicist Sophie from Starlingpots Ceramics, for a fun and relaxing day of hand built pottery at The Canteen, Nailsworth.
This creative workshop day is suitable for all abilities and designed for anyone and everyone who would like to take a day for themselves, to get absorbed in some gentle creating and enjoy a good natter in the process. Come with a friend, family (8+),or bring yourself along to switch off from normal life for a bit, whilst making something really special for your home. This makes an excellent gift too ;-)
All materials and gentle tuition provided, including a delicious Canteen light lunch platter.
From 10am - 12pm Sophie will take you through the design and full making process from a ball of beautiful soft stoneware clay into your perfect ceramic mug. Sophie will also demonstrate different handle and decoration techniques to make your mug truly unique. We will then make a little matching dish for your teabag or favourite biscuit.
We will then break for lunch to share hard earned delicious Canteen lunch platters before an afternoon of decorating!
From 1pm-2.30pm Sophie will guide you through your own unique design and decoration of your hand crafted stoneware mug. This decoration might be inspired by nature, botanicals, special colours or phrases. You will use a selection of underglazes to create your design, Sophie will be on hand with ideas and advice as you paint. At the end of the session, Sophie will take your mugs to her Nailsworth studio, to be carefully dried, kiln fired, clear glazed and glaze fired.
Get the kettle on - your finished works of art will be both food and dishwasher safe and ready to collect from The Canteen in 4 weeks time.
All the materials are provided, all abilities welcome. Sophie is an experienced teachers/creative and will guide you through the day. Please bring an apron, or clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy.
