it is very unusual to find a confit pot with a lid... this is a medium sized 19th century antique French glazed terracotta confit pot with associated lid.

Confit pots were made in France to store meats, particularly duck and goose confit. They are made using local clay and glazed to ensure impermeability, being designed with handles to help when transporting them.
