The Story

This little gem in its original form was a pair of embroidered Ottoman fragments originating from Turkey. At Clothsmith we have reworked the motifs to enhance the design. Ottoman embroidery is known for its intricate and ornate designs and is closely tied to the culture and history of the Ottoman Empire. Our piece dates from the 19^th century, the elaborate hand stitch work of the silk and metallic thread onto silk ground being a fine example of pieces from this time.
